The book of James was probably the first book written in the New Testament. James was the half-brother of our Lord, and the Pastor of the Church in Jerusalem. He is writing to the Jewish believers who were scattered after the stoning of Stephen, who now lived outside of Jerusalem.
James is not a doctrinal book, but a very straight-forward, practical approach to Christian living. All of us need to examine ourselves from time to time to see if we are truly in the faith, and if we are living the holy, godly life that God would have for us to live. James lays down several tests in this little book that were not only for those early Jewish believers but are for us today as well. This is a verse-by-verse study that will instruct, educate, convict and strengthen you for a closer walk with Christ.
